In approaching minimalism, this three song gem does some fun stuff. I enjoyed the way Outgate played with the listener, much like putting the carrot in front of the horse...although I don't think anyone listening is a horse...then again, you never know, right? The 4 on the floor bass did what it was supposed to do, not especially exciting, but nevertheless good. The overall composition was fun and loose, something minimalism very rarely does. Good work. In a similar vein to last week’s review of Opus Acide, this is more repetitive minimal techno that doesn’t bore you. I took an instant liking to this EP when I heard it. The EP starts with Our Way which is at its core very minimal. The same drum loop goes on and on but there are just enough ambient noises, vocal samples and breaks in between to keep you listening. It moves on to a slightly darker track in Less Sugarless before going slightly more ambient with Camouflage. This music is so visceral and hypnotic that it wouldn’t surprise me if Outgate’s music will one day move dancefloors across the world. It features a really rich sounding saw lead sound and a gated arpeggio that just blends so well with the whole track. The sound is something that you can instantly connect to once you hear it.
